Additional details of this internship:   Two of the missions of the Oklahoma Biological Survey are to describe the biodiversity of plants and animals in Oklahoma, and to keep track of rare species. This internship is part of an on-going effort to document the distribution of selected invertebrates in the state. Example groups are crayfishes, freshwater mussels, and butterflies/moths, but target groups and specific activities vary -- contact Dr. Bergey for current information. Interns can attend the Oklahoma Academy of Science fall and spring field meetings (which meet at state parks) as part of their internships and may also participate in BioBlitz! during the fall semester. Participation in elementary school outreach programs is expected and consists of helping with hands-on classroom activities in local elementary schools.
